The team at Active Accounting brings over 50 years’ bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and business experience to our growing GURU team. My dear customers:

I’m writing you with some exciting news: On September 1, 2021; Emily and I joined forces with our long-time friends at Achen Henderson LLP.

Clayton Achen and George Henderson founded Achen Henderson in 2013 and have been working with Emily and I since then. They have a small, and very human, group of bookkeepers and Chartered Professional Accountants (the GURU Team), here in Calgary. The GURU Team’s approach to bookkeeping is very modern, and they manage to keep the ‘human touch’ that you’re all used to – which is why we’re such a great fit.

Why is this happening?

The reason for the merger is three-fold:

  1. The bookkeeping landscape is changing rapidly, and I want to make sure that you are best positioned to take advantage of the tools and opportunities that are available to help you succeed in business and life. Achen Henderson and the GURU Team are the best firm that I know of to help you seize those opportunities.
  1. George (my husband) and I are moving ahead with our life-long dream of living in Panama for the winter (hot, beach etc…) starting this year. Retirement is on the horizon for us, and it is so important to me that you land with a group of people that I have known and trusted for nearly 10-years. Don’t worry, you’re not getting rid of me until I know that each and every one of you are properly cared for.
  1. Unlike me, Emily Taylor, my dear friend, and counterpart, wants to keep working and she has been provided with the opportunity to work at Achen Henderson as a senior ‘Bookkeeping Leader’ on their GURU Team. Like me, she has also worked alongside the GURU Team for nearly 10-years on a wide variety of clients.

What does this change mean for you and your businesses?

Until we have had a chance to personally meet with you to discuss exactly what you need going forward, whether it’s the status quo or something else, it will be ‘business as usual’.

For those of you who only use us for yearend bookkeeping, we do not anticipate any significant changes in the way we work together. You may wish to take advantage of the opportunity to have your bookkeeping, yearend, corporate and personal taxes prepared under one-roof, by one team, should you choose to. Achen Henderson provides that opportunity.

For those of you who already take advantage of, or would like to take advantage of, more regular bookkeeping and reporting, “GURU by Achen Henderson” gives you the opportunity to simplify and improve your businesses bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting systems, and the opportunity to improve your bottom line.

The GURU Team, including Emily and I, will have personal conversations with all of you over the coming months as your yearends arise, as it is practical, or sooner upon your request (if you want to accelerate your transition to a more modern bookkeeping platform). These conversations will center around your specific needs and how we can continue to help you and your business without interruption.
