Alberta Statutory (stat) Holiday Pay Changes
HAPPY CANADIAN THANKSGIVING!
Thanksgiving is the second statutory holiday under Alberta’s new statutory holiday pay rules. Do you know how much your business will on save on stat holidays under the Alberta government’s latest policies? Have you factored these savings into your budgeting and forecasting?
• For a Calgary hair salon with 15 busy chairs (closed Mondays), expect ~$2,800/stat holiday in savings.
• For a Calgary restaurant or brewpub with 35-40 staff (closed Mondays) expect ~$2,750/stat holiday in savings.
…and that’s just Thanksgiving savings. With 9-12 annual stat holidays/year, this means ~$25,000 – $33,000 per year in savings under the new holiday pay policies.
